Don't mistake one for the other
This week, the seeker is trying to unlock the next level of performance in their career. But this could apply to a sport, business, or personal life goal you have.
SEEKER:
I’ve had this problem in my work recently, where I’m struggling to take things to the next level of performance. I just feel incredibly indecisive about my next career move.
GUIDE:
How so?
SEEKER:
Well, I’ve mapped out everything I could do, and I’ve been working to justify why that will get me better results. But part of me keeps coming back with doubts and arguments against my solutions.
GUIDE:
What’s that negative part of you saying?
SEEKER:
It says stuff like “what if this won’t work?” or “I’ll be in big trouble if this doesn’t pan out, so I need to be sure before I commit”, or “this is not how it’s usually done.”
GUIDE:
That part of you saying all this stuff - is it objectively wrong?
SEEKER:
I suppose not.
GUIDE:
Ok, so you agree that no solution is perfect, and your mind also knows that.
SEEKER:
I suppose so.
